Is it raining?
This is how I feel every time I drive at night. I see what appears to be rain drops on the sides of my eyes only. Not middle...which is very weird and probably unsafe when driving!
I have noticed this condition getting a little worse with time. I assumed when other people said they had a hard time driving at night, they meant because it only rains on the side of their eyes as well. Not true.
I can drive perfectly in the day time...no really i do! It's just this weird thing at night. And weirder when there is oncoming traffic. And the mostest weirdest when it's at night, oncoming traffic and I see the oncoming headlights. For those of you asking, I mostly do not drive at night. I mean if you need me and it's an emergency, I will get to you. I don't want you to add to your worry about me driving at night while it rains on the sides of my eyes!
It's about aging. Turns out I have the beginning of macular degeneration. I figured something was going on. I usually like going to the eye Dr. I see it as my way to get new glasses for the year. I also like to see if my vision changes. I view this as a challenge. I typically do not have my eyes dilated. I wish I had a great reason, but its mostly due to the inconvenience of having my eyes dilated. But this last time I said I would. I kind of knew something was going on. I mean, who only has rain on the sides of their eyes?
After the eye check up, the Dr. gave me the information about my dry eyes...oh very uncomfortable some days...my stigmatism is getting worse...my vision has changed....yay new glasses...and I have macular degeneration. Whoa! A lot to go through just to get a new pair of glasses! There was talk of drops, heated eye pads, vitamins but what I heard very distinctly was about the potential for shots in the eyes! Wait, what??!! I only know of one other person who had shots in their eyes and I prayed for them!
My eyes opened up pretty wide and I am certain I could have seen anything they were so BIG! When? How? What do I have to do? All answers were given and my takeaway is: I will do whatever it takes to avoid shots in my eyes!!!
I know as we age there are many changes. Some good and some not so good. As I learn about things to help with staying healthy, I always want to pass them along. Here is a list and affiliate link for the products I am now using to help with eye care...and mostly to avoid eye shots (in case you missed that part).
Oh and if you see someone driving on the highway at night going a little slower than they should, no judging. They might just be me trying to get somewhere to help a friend while driving in the rain!
